Soaring for Healing: Precious Little Ladies’ Kite Flight Brings Essex County Together

On September 20, 2025, the sky above Essex County filled with color, laughter, and hope as Precious Little Ladies Inc. hosted its annual Awareness-Raising Kite Flight™. Families, survivors, and community leaders came together to turn a day of fun into a statement of resilience and unity. With 223 registered participants, the event offered more than just kites—it provided free father-and-son haircuts, 140 bookbag giveaways, and on-site surveys to better understand the immediate needs of women in the community. Each kite that took flight symbolized freedom, healing, and the collective rise above trauma.

The event’s energy was contagious. Children raced across the grass as music played, parents laughed, and survivors found comfort in knowing they weren’t alone. Local leaders like Councilwoman Tameika Garrett-Ward shared heartfelt words, saying, “When you release a kite, it’s like releasing the trauma. You soar, and the possibilities are endless.” Her sentiment captured the very essence of the day—transforming pain into power and reminding attendees that community connection is one of the most powerful tools for recovery and prevention.
